City Meets Nature

PANAMA CITY ISN’T A CONCRETE JUNGLE. IT’S A JUNGLE WITH A CITY IN IT.

~5.5 hours · Morning Adventure · Private · Hotel pickup & drop-off

Discover a side of Panama City most visitors don’t expect: rainforest and wildlife just minutes from downtown, green spaces woven into everyday city life, and spectacular views where skyline, ocean, canal, and jungle meet.

Most people picture Panama City as a skyline. What they don’t picture is real rainforest just minutes from downtown and a city where nature is never very far away. That’s one of the things I love most about living here.

On this private morning adventure, I’ll take you to some of the places where I spend my own free time, starting with my favorite walk in the city: Ancón Hill.

This isn’t an experience around as many quick stops as possible. It’s a relaxed but active morning that gives you time to actually experience Panama City’s greener side – from rainforest and wildlife to neighborhood parks and the Pacific waterfront.

What You'll Explore

  • A genuine two-hour nature walk on Ancón Hill
  • Rainforest and wildlife right in the heart of Panama City
  • The giant Panamanian flag at the summit
  • Spectacular views over the city, Casco Viejo, and the canal area
  • Parque Omar, Panama City’s answer to Central Park
  • Fresh, ice-cold coconut water at a local fruit stand
  • Panama City’s Pacific waterfront
  • Plenty of time for conversation, questions, and photos

How It Works

1. I PICK YOU UP

I’ll pick you up at your hotel in Panama City in the morning. We start early, while temperatures are cooler and wildlife tends to be more active. Then we’ll head to Ancón Hill for the main nature experience of the day.

2. WE WALK ANCÓN HILL

Ancón Hill is my personal favorite walk in Panama City and we’ll give it the time it deserves. We’ll spend around two hours walking through tropical forest, looking out for wildlife along the way and making our way toward the huge Panamanian flag at the top.

The views are worth the climb: Panama City, Casco Viejo, the canal area, and rainforest all come together in one panorama.

3. WE EXPERIENCE MY NEIGHBORHOOD PARK

From Ancón Hill, we’ll drive to Parque Omar. This part of the tour is personal, too. I live only about a 20 minutes walk away and come here regularly myself. We’ll take a short walk through the park and stop for an ice-cold coconut water at the fruit stand, exactly the kind of break I enjoy here myself.

4. CITY MEETS OCEAN AND JUNGLE

Next, we’ll head toward the Cinta Costera and Amador Causeway. This is where the contrasts that make Panama City so unusual become especially visible: modern skyline on one side, the entrance to the Panama Canal and tropical rainforest on the other.

If you’d like, we can finish this part of the tour with an optional lunch before heading back to your hotel. Lunch is not included in the tour price.

5. I TAKE YOU BACK TO YOUR HOTEL

After our City Meets Nature experience, I’ll drive you back to your hotel in Panama City. The tour itself, including hotel pickup and drop-off, takes approximately 5.5 hours. An optional lunch will add some extra time to the experience.
