El Valle De Antón Day Trip

A DAY AWAY FROM THE CITY, INSIDE A SLEEPING VOLCANO

~10–11 hours · Private · Hotel pickup & drop-off · Lunch included

Leave Panama City behind for a day and discover a completely different side of Panama: cooler, greener, quieter, and surrounded by mountains.

Sometimes you need to leave the city to understand just how diverse life in Panama can be.

About two and a half hours from Panama City, El Valle de Antón sits inside the crater of a long-dormant volcano. Its cooler climate, lush landscape, and relaxed atmosphere have made it a favorite weekend escape for Panamanians, expats, and visitors alike.

For me, El Valle is also personal.

I had a house built here and spend many of my weekends in town.

On this private day trip, I’ll show you some of the places I’ve come to know through spending time here – from my own building project and everyday life in town to mountain views, good food, and one of my favorite stops on the Pacific coast.

What You'll Explore

During your El Valle de Antón Day Trip, you can expect:

  • A full day away from Panama City
  • El Valle’s unique setting inside the crater of a dormant volcano
  • Cooler temperatures and lush mountain scenery
  • A personal look at the house I built here myself
  • Traditional German “Kaffee und Kuchen”
  • A walk through town and a glimpse of everyday life in El Valle
  • A few personal stops and stories from my own experience building here
  • Beautiful viewpoints over the surrounding mountains
  • Lunch at my favorite Italian restaurant in town
  • A stop at Vista Mar on the Pacific coast
  • Coffee with an ocean view
  • Plenty of time for conversation, questions, and photos

How It Works

1. I PICK YOU UP

I’ll pick you up at your hotel in Panama City in the morning.

From there, we’ll leave the city behind and drive toward the mountains and El Valle de Antón.

The journey takes approximately two and a half hours and gives you a chance to see how quickly the landscape changes once you leave the capital.

2. I SHOW YOU MY EL VALLE

Once we arrive in El Valle, I’ll show you a place that has become a second home for me.

I built a house here myself, and you’ll get a personal look at the project and hear a little about my own experience building in Panama.

And because this is my version of El Valle, there’s also a bit of German tradition involved:

I’ll treat you to “Kaffee und Kuchen”, German-style coffee and cake at my place.

3. WE EXPLORE THE TOWN

From there, we’ll explore El Valle itself.

We’ll walk through town and get a feel for everyday life beyond the usual visitor highlights.

I’ll also show you a few places that became part of my own life here – including the local hardware store I got to know particularly well while building my house.

Along the way, you’ll get a better sense of what makes El Valle such a popular retreat from Panama City.

4. WE TAKE IN THE LANDSCAPE

El Valle is surrounded by lush green mountains, and we’ll make time for some of the viewpoints that show you why the setting is so special.

The scenery, vegetation, and cooler mountain climate make this feel like a completely different Panama from the capital.

5. WE HAVE LUNCH

We’ll stop for lunch at my favorite Italian restaurant in El Valle.

Lunch is included in the tour price.

There’s no rush – this is a full-day experience, and lunch is part of enjoying the slower pace of El Valle.

6. WE STOP AT THE PACIFIC COAST

On our way back to Panama City, we’ll make one final stop at Vista Mar.

It’s one of my favorite spots along the Pacific coast and a beautiful place to finish the day.

We’ll have a coffee overlooking the ocean before continuing back to the city.

7. I TAKE YOU BACK TO YOUR HOTEL

After our El Valle de Antón Day Trip, I’ll drive you back to your hotel in Panama City.

The entire experience, including hotel pickup and drop-off, takes approximately 10–11 hours.
